Empowering Women- Delhi Government Offers Rs. 1000 For Women | Check Eligibility & How To Apply

Delhi Government Offers Rs. 1000 For Women

Delhi Government has offered the Women’s Day gift to all the Delhi women on 4th March by announcing a scheme. AAP’s Finance Minister, Atishi Marlena, announced Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana while presenting the 10th Delhi Budget 2024-25. Under this scheme, the government will give Rs 1000 every month to every woman above the age of 18.

The Finance Minister stated that the idea behind this is inspired by Ram Rajya. In times like today, when women non-working women or those working in the unorganized sector are highly dependent on men, such schemes will offer the desired freedom. As per the government’s official website, approximately 50 lakh women will benefit from this scheme in the national capital. “The government has allocated Rs 2,714 crore in funds to implement this scheme”, as said by the FM Marlena.

CM Kejriwal said it is personally an emotional moment for him and expressed his gratitude to Delhi people for showering their love and affection on him despite not being from a political family. CM Kejriwal fulfills the responsibility of an elder brother and son by rolling out this scheme. It will contribute to women’s dream of creating an identity of their own.

FM Marlena said in an interview with the leading newspaper that the first installment will be rolled out in October, hopefully, after the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024. She added, “This scheme will only be notified after Lok Sabha polls. The notification will come in June-July and hopefully by October the first instalment of money will be credited in the bank account of women.”

Through this scheme, women above 18 can buy books for their studies, get assistance to prepare for government jobs, use them for their refreshments or entertainment, or even invest in government schemes. This would make them independent reducing the dependency of asking for money to fulfil their desires.

Who is eligible for this scheme?

As per the guidelines presented, only women aged above 18 are eligible for this benefit. They must have their Delhi voter ID card. As per the last electoral poll, there are 67,30,371 female voters in Delhi.

In addition to the age limit, those who are taxpayers, pension recipients, and work in the government are excluded from the scheme. Plus, those who are already enjoying benefits from the current Delhi Government are excluded from this scheme.

This implies those working in the unorganized sector, homemakers without any access to pensions can apply under this scheme.

What documents are needed to make the most of this scheme?

In order to ensure that only residents of Delhi benefit from Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana, the Delhi Government has issued a list of documents needed to apply for this scheme. These documents will ensure that the beneficiaries are residents of Delhi and fall under the target group.

It is a must for women to apply for this scheme with the following documents –

  • Aadhar Card
  • Pan Card
  • Bank Details
  • Delhi Voter ID Card

Those eligible to benefit under this scheme must give a self-declaration as well. The process of the scheme will begin right after Lok Sabha Elections 2024.

Conclusion

CM Kejriwal strongly believes that this scheme will push the economy of Delhi. He aims to challenge trickle-down economics, where the money stays with a few families, who eventually will put up factories to enroll laborer and the country will progress. He wants to change it by giving the money to the poor, who’d eventually shop from the market creating the demand and the new shops and factories are opened to meet the growing demand.
