The Finale

ChatGPT will take your job. Currently, everyone is obsessing over ChatGPT while some are fearing the fact that it might take their job. Honestly, on a personal level, I have heard this that in the coming 18 months to 3 years ChatGPT, or the sponsor of all Artificial Intelligence will take over my ‘roti, kapra, and makan’ as a content writer. Maybe I should succumb to the terror of unemployment or should I just pick another field, one that is not likely to be affected by the human version of computed minds? But after 5 years of working and loving my job, I am really not inkling towards a different route.

One conversation that particularly struck me was the words that I had with the techies of my company. They were facing the same ‘daymare’ or some even nights, of losing their jobs to AI (courtesy to ChatGPT). But what is the reality???

Word Of Master

I was reading a news piece on the sidelines of the Nasscom Technology and Leadership Forum in which Narayan Murthy, Infosys Founder said, “In 1977-78 there was a thing called program generators. Everybody said the youngsters will lose all their jobs, it didn’t happen… the human mind is the most flexible instrument. It can adapt very well. And all that happened was people start solving bigger and bigger problems, which these program generators could not handle.”

What Murthy oh so nicely said is that ChatGPT is great but one can use it as the base, to get some inspiration. But to say that it will replace the jobs of coders and developers is never gonna happen.

The Finale

It is a good thing, just like any other invention, ChatGPT can make things easier for us, for writers, designers, and maybe coders, but it is never gonna take over anyones job. The human mind is the creator of machines, and to say that the machine can take over the job world made for humans is bizarre. It is something that will definitely make a good Hollywood script, something like “Age of Ultron”, but in the real world: no ChatGPT can ever take over the job market.
